Women United, United Way of the Mid-South’s leadership group, is hosting Stuff The Trunk to support first generation college students graduating from Memphis-Shelby County Schools. Women United is committed to helping low-income women and their families move out of poverty by advancing the local advocacy footprint around adult education, financial empowerment, and domestic violence.
Stuff The Trunk initiative provides much-needed college supplies for well deserving students who are first generation Shelby County residents as they prepare to embark on this new adventure. This initiative allows selected students to head to their college of choice with a storage trunk filled with items included but not limited to:
Laptop computer provided by Dell and generous sponsors |
Backpack |
Laundry Detergent |
Comforter with sheets, a pillow and mattress pad |
Electronics: Iron and Lamp |
Towels and Lysol wipes |
The fully stuffed trunks also include school supplies, toiletries, a gift card, and other necessities! To support our students throughout their first year of college, we also offer students a second gift card at the end of their first semester.
We hope you’ll partner with us in one of the following ways!
