Driving The Dream recently announced its partnership with Workforce Mid-South to offer job seekers access to opportunities.
Workforce Mid-South will function as a Care Coordination hub and refer families to appropriate services. They will provide overall service coordination, coaching and support to families and individuals with multiple barriers, specifically those who are under-employed, unemployed and those who may lack the necessary career readiness skills and training.
In partnership with state and local partners and the Greater Memphis Workforce Development Board, Workforce Mid-South leads, directs and oversees the public workforce system in the Greater Memphis region as part of the American One-Stop Job Center Network. We convene and partner with business, labor, training and education providers, nonprofits and diverse community stakeholders to support an inclusive and dynamic regional economy and shared prosperity.
Through our partnership, individuals and communities will prosper and thrive by closing the gap between what local employers need and their skills. Workforce Mid-South provides effective employment and training services to a wide variety of youth, adults, and businesses through interagency partnerships, leveraged resources and the delivery of workforce services through a network of geographically targeted one-stop locations and community access points. Services are free and can be accessed at any of the six American Job Centers within Shelby, Fayette, Lauderdale, and Tipton Counties, as well as partner access points throughout the region.
The COVID-19 pandemic has left many Mid-Southerners facing economic hardships, and this partnership is taking place at the most critical time. Through this partnership, Driving The Dream hopes to connect more residents of Memphis and Shelby County to employment pathways and training opportunities, helping advance individuals’ economic sustainability.
