“Our family is honored to join FedEx in helping to ensure our neighbors have food on the table. Memphis is home, and we stand with our community.”

United Way of the Mid-South and the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, in partnership with Mayor Paul Young and the City of Memphis, have joined forces to launch MemphisCares, a community fund to support families experiencing food insecurity.
As of November 1st, 167,000 Memphis and Shelby County residents’ supplemental food benefits (SNAP) will be suspended due to the federal government shutdown. The MemphisCares Fund will provide much-needed support for the Mid-South Food Bank and other local pantries, while also directly assisting individual SNAP recipients.
United Way of the Mid-South, the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, and the City of Memphis have each committed funds to this effort. Early supporters also include FedEx, the Frederick W. Smith Family, State Representative Justin Pearson, and the Hyde Family Foundation.
The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) announced that it will begin issuing full SNAP benefits for November 2025 beginning Monday, November 17.
