Evolve Bank and Trust showed out again this year for United Way’s Stuff the Bus campaign to benefit Shelby County Schools! Historically the collection bins have overflowed with supplies, and this year was no different! Ramna Martin, SVP, Director of Human Resources, and Thomas Holmes, SVP, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, led the project, and we are so grateful for their partnership. We can do more together than any one of us can do alone!
Under the leadership of SVP and CFO Jim McMahon of American Residential Services, ARS supported the children of Shelby County Schools with a two-week long collection drive – in a big way! They topped it off with a fun employee sorting day where everyone enjoyed an afternoon of packing, a sweet snack and friendly comradery. All were so happy to be able to help others and give back! A special shout out to Jennifer Hughes and Allison Fones for making it all happen. We appreciate you!
On July 25, 2021, Kellogg’s Memphis Plant had a conveyor belt malfunction which ignited combustibles in one of their rice dryer machines. Because of our long standing history with Kellogg’s, United Way decided to step in and bring their employees water and Gatorade as a way to show that we are and will forever be here for them during their time of need. Their employees were very appreciative of our effort.
Each year, United Way of the Mid-South asks local businesses and organizations to select one or more of their best employees to participate in the Campaign Representative Program. Participants develop and implement company campaigns by working with top management and Employee Engagement Champions. These employees come from all areas of the workforce including those who aspire to management or those in middle management, professional or clerical roles. Participating organizations utilize the Campaign Rep program to strengthen and improve employees’ professional and personal skills and continue to pay their employee’s salary and benefits for the 13-week program while the employee works full-time for United Way. Participants engage in public speaking opportunities, strengthen their skills by giving presentations, learn sales techniques, gain a better understanding of time management, and develop awareness and understanding of community needs and resources. Employees return to their places of employment with tools to help prepare them for leadership and management roles at work and in the community.
We’d like to thank the following companies for their support & sponsorship this 2021- 2022 Campaign Season: FedEx, MLGW, and the City of Memphis. This is the perfect opportunity for employees to build project management, public speaking, and other organizational skills while also giving back to the community.
