A prominent local real estate company joined a global network of real estate firms that is set to help expand its reach and shine a light on Memphis.
Universal Commercial Real Estate, founded and led by Darrell Cobbins, is now the first Memphis office to join TCN Worldwide, an alliance of independent real estate firms serving more than 200 markets globally.
“Having been a part of a global and national firm for the first seven years of my career, and then being more independent and solo and not a part of that, I recognize the value and benefit of it,” Cobbins told MBJ. “In being able to let a client know, I can help you anywhere in the nation, but then also to be able to pursue clients that have a more national footprint in scope.”
National Connections
Before Universal Commercial joined the alliance, the closest TCN partner to Memphis was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, more than 300 miles outside the city.
Cobbins said the network offers Universal Commercial the resources and tools to set bigger strategies with bigger goals. Cobbins said TCN gives Universal Commercial the chance to connect with companies and clients around the world, but it can also help them expand local companies to other areas.
He said the partnership will bring more direct investment opportunities for Memphis.
Brandon Ingram, VP and affiliate broker for Universal Commercial, said TCN takes local real estate firms and turns them into national companies.
“You get exposed to so many resources,” Ingram said. “From our perspective, it enhances our value relationally with our clients as we try to advise them for the next deal, but also helps them strategically look for and align for deals in the future.”
