GenerousHeartsA study of IRS data by The Chronicle of Philanthropy finds Memphis is the second most generous major city in the nation.

The publication announced its findings earlier this week in its “How America Gives” report.

The Chronicle noted “Of the 50 largest metropolitan areas, four of the five most generous cities were in the Sun Belt—Memphis, Birmingham, Ala., Atlanta, and Nashville.”

Memphis has been cited for its generosity in several studies in recent years, and usually close behind are our generous friends in Nashville, creating a powerful result for the entire state of Tennessee.

The article’s major focus is on giving patterns based on geography and personal wealth. To read more about the most recent findings, visit http://philanthropy.com/section/How-America-Gives/621/
