United Way staff engage in “active walking” during last month’s in-house fundraising effort.

United Way of the Mid-South was recognized as a Healthier Tennessee Workplace by the Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness in a statement released last week. The recognition is given to workplaces that encourage and enable employees to live a healthy lifestyle both at work and at home.

The announcement was the first recognition of organizations from the Foundation, which identified 73 businesses across the state as healthier workplaces.

“We all have a role to play in improving the health of our state, and the organizations we recognize today are helping lead the way,” Governor Bill Haslam said. “They have demonstrated a clear commitment to providing a culture of wellness in their workplace.”

Earlier this summer United Way focused on healthy eating and active living as part of its in-house effort to raise resources for United Way, and our work to maintain that type of environment continues. Our thanks to everyone who helps our staff continue to foster these important values, and to everyone working to improve workplaces across the Mid-South.
